Why time blocking fails multi-hyphenates

Time blocking assumes one person with one list. Here's what to do when you're five people at once.

Time blocking is great advice โ€” for someone with a single job. Give each task a slot and protect it. But when you're a founder, a runner and a parent, the blocks start fighting each other.

The problem: tasks have no owner

A block labelled 'write post' doesn't know whether it belongs to your founder self or your creator self. Without that, you can't see who's been neglected.

The fix: block identities first

Decide which identities get which days before you schedule a single task. Then fill each identity's room with its own work.

Plan your week around who you're being.
